Monet lived in Argenteuil, France from 1871 to 1878. He had a studio boat built with a shaded open deck so he could work outside on the banks of the Seine. His radiant luminous paintings of this period are shown here bathed in summer light reflecting off the water with the Chateau Michelle in the background.
