OUR STORY
It all began back in the days of bootlegging, bath tub gin and big time gangsters. A large boarding house in the Catskill Mountains of New York was transformed into the Dodge Inn Steakhouse.
The Dodge Inn began in 1914 as a seafood house. After a shortfall with a temperamental chef, the Porpora Family found themselves looking for a new menu. Steak seemed simple enough, and before they knew it, they gave birth to the DODGE INN Steakhouse. Along with the house specialty "Dodge Inn Steak", they served giant French Fried Potatoes and Stewed Spanish Onions. These are still the specialty of the house.
Dedicated Dodge Inn'ers will still recall the long wooden tables (whoever heard of tablecloths), and the immortal pot belly stove.
Since those days the Dodge Inn has seen two unfortunate fires. In 1959, the Inn underwent its first remodeling, when a fire destroyed the long large dining room. Rocky Marciano, Perry Como, Syd Ceasar, Alan King and a hundred other notables loved the place no matter. A second fire in 1967 caught both the termites and the Porpora family short handed and the Inn went down without a glimmer of fire insurance. Eighty days later, only the Steakhouse reopened. The days of renting rooms were over.
The Dodge Inn remained under the Porpora Family's control until the summer of 1993, when the family decide to retire from the business and hand down the legendary Dodge Inn to the Resnick family, and they have without pause, continued the traditional Dodge Inn Steak, Potatoes, Onions and Salad while adding a creative twist which received a 4 Star rating. For those who want something lighter, they have added a Tex-Mex menu for a lighter fare.
The Dodge Inn Steakhouse has revived stronger than ever offering its customers the finest foods, the biggest bar selection as well as homemade desserts, fabulous after dinner drink menus and cigars from around the world.
